For Jewish Healthcare Professionals
Learn, Connect
& Thrive
Welcome to the Rofeh Yedid Group, a vibrant grassroots initiative that brings together Jewish healthcare professionals committed to:
-
personal growth in Ruchnius and feelings of satisfaction and harmony in our personal life and professional life.
-
influencing patients to explore and improve their personalities: improve character, increase intellect, and be careful with their speech.
Our mission is to draw upon the profound wisdom of Chassidus. The Rebbe teaches, “A doctor with greater bitul achieves more success in medical outcomes.” Learning Chassidus is essential to cultivating bitul, ultimately enriching the holistic care we provide to those we serve. Together, as a community, we draw strength and support from one another to grow both personally and professionally.

Current Programs
-
Weekly classes: A group of dedicated medical professionals come together online every Thursday 9:00-9:30 PM Eastern to learn the profound connection between Chassidus and the field of medicine. Our classes delve into the rich teachings of Chassidus, offering a perspective that directly pertains to the challenges and experiences faced in the medical profession. The program is for men and women. Recordings are available here.

-
Biweekly classes for doctors and patients: These classes provide an introduction to “purpose-driven living and character development,” following a unique curriculum inspired by Rambam’s Eight Chapters and Hilchos De’os, as well as insights and guidance from the Rebbe’s letters. The curriculum also includes self-evaluation tools and personal growth strategies. Many report significant life improvements and positive health outcomes as a result.

-
Referral and Mentoring for Medical Students/Residents: We serve as a referral center for medical students and residents who come into contact with Chabad Houses. This offers newcomers the chance to receive mentorship, guidance, and invaluable advice tailored to incoming doctors, paving the way for both their professional and spiritual growth within the community.
Our story
The Rofeh Yedid Group had its humble beginnings in the vibrant community of Miami Beach, led by Dr. Jay Holder and Dr. Amiel Levin. Their journey of discovery started with the study of the ancient medical text Assaf the Physician, which they studied for 3-4 years (recordings available upon request). This sparked a deeper interest in ancient medicine and its modern applications, even though its direct integration into daily practice is challenging.

In their search for further understanding, they began studying the letters and Maamarim of the Lubavitcher Rebbe on health matters. Chassidus offers many analogies comparing the physical body to the spiritual anatomy of the soul. As there are no specific texts covering these connections, they started learning one subject at a time to explore this unique intersection.

Along the way, Dr. Holder shared that he had received a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe to “spread and prepare the medicines written by the Rambam,” which led to further developments in their journey. The Rebbe encouraged physicians to teach those who come to them about Hilchos De’os and the Eight Chapters of Rambam. To teach others, they first had to learn for themselves.

This laid the foundation for the Rofeh Yedid Group and led to the creation of a structured curriculum. Since those early days, dozens of doctors have embraced this curriculum and have reported significant benefits from their involvement.
